FUTURES Joins as Amicus Curiae In Defense of DACA
On September 13, 2023, Judge Hanen, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas, ruled that DACA is unlawful. The case was appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and is currently under review.
FUTURES joined 17 organizations as amicus curiae in defense of the rights and well-being of the children of DACA recipients. The brief sets forth the interests of the children of DACA recipients (US citizens). It demonstrates the harms they experience living in fear that their parents may be taken away and how this fear negatively impacts all aspects of their lives, including their health, education, and overall family stability.
