Expansion of School-Based Health Services in California: An Opportunity for More Trauma-Informed Care for Children

California recently changed its Medicaid program to better leverage federal funding to provide physical, mental, and behavioral health services to students experiencing trauma and violence. This policy brief explains how the recently approved Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) helps school districts draw down more funds and is a model for how other states might increase federal funding for trauma and other health services.
